Black pepper oil is obtained from the fruit or, preferably, the dried berries of Piper Nigrum L., a member of the pepper family (Piperaceae). Although pepper originated in India, today it is grown in most tropical countries. The smell of the oil is surprising, because it does not have much in common with the well-known spice. Although the aroma is slightly spicy, you can detect strong notes of wood and musk - the oil is, contrary to what it seems, very warm and perfectly adds depth to other scents.

Black pepper oil - properties

With a strong antimicrobial effect, it is a natural and effective means of protecting against infection of small wounds, scratches and scrapes. The volatile compounds in the oil have antibacterial and antiviral effects, which is worth taking advantage of in aromatherapy, especially for respiratory infections (for example, in the form of a warming bath).

Black pepper oil is also used in cosmetics - and not as rarely as you might think. It has antioxidant activity, so it protects against the negative effects of free radicals. It is also found in insect repellants because it is a good repellent.
