Yuzu essential oil is an extract obtained from the peel of a small citrus fruit (Citrus junos). The plant originates from China, but is traditionally used in Japan, where it is not only a medicinal resource, but also an integral part of the culture. Although mostly known in Asia, it is slowly gaining popularity in other parts of the world. The plant and its extract are used in two (most important) ways, culinary and aromatherapy, as the fruit is too acidic to be eaten raw.

Yuzu oil - properties

Yuzu oil is traditionally used for bathing, especially in winter, when colds and flu cases increase. The product is worth having on hand all year round as it has many health benefits. It has a positive effect on muscles and joints - relieves pain and fights inflammation. It is often used to care for skin that lacks vitality, reduces signs of fatigue, and sometimes helps to care for oily and problematic skin.

Yuzu will also give excellent results in aromatherapy. Often described as a cross between mandarin, grapefruit, lime and bergamot, harmonious and surprisingly warm. It lifts the mood, helps with depression and anxiety, reduces nervous tension and sleep problems. When inhaled, it supports respiratory function and stimulates the immune system, and when applied topically, it reduces minor skin irritation.

Yuzu essential oil is an excellent base for creating tropical compositions, combining well with mint, floral and citrus extracts for added depth. The oil alone or in combination is definitely worth your attention.
