Jarrow Formulas® Vitamin D3 provides cholecalciferol, which is the form produced by (human) skin in response to UVB (sunlight), and can improve vitamin D status better than equivalent amounts of ergocalciferol (D2). Finally, when needed, vitamin D3 is converted in the body to its hormonally active form, calcitriol. Calcitriol improves the absorption of dietary calcium and phosphorus, stimulates the production of osteocalcin (an important structural protein in bones) and supports a healthy immune response.
