  1. What is Konazol shampoo and what is it used for

Konazol shampoo is a medicine used to treat the following infectious skin diseases caused by fungi:

dandruff of the scalp ( Pityriasis capitis) ;

seborrheic dermatitis (reddish-brown spots covered with yellowish or white scales);

Pityriasis versicolor (small, brown or white spots with uneven edges on the torso).

Konazol shampoo is suitable For the prevention of pityriasis capitis and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

  1. What you need to know before using Konazol shampoo

The use of Konazol shampoo is prohibited:

  • if you are allergic to ketoconazole or any of the excipients of this medicine (they are listed in section 6) (the shampoo-moistened skin turns red, itches).

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Konazol.

As with any shampoo, be careful not to get Nizoral in the eyes. If this happens, they should be rinsed with water.

For children and teenagers

The safety and efficacy of Konazol in children under 12 years of age have not been established.

Other medicines and Konazol

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, or if you are not sure.

Corticosteroid cream, ointment, or lotion.

If you are taking such medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with Konazol shampoo. Nizoral shampoo can be started immediately, but the corticosteroid drug should not be stopped immediately, as the skin may become red and itchy.

Next, corticosteroids should be used as follows:

  • the same amount of them should be applied to the skin in the first week;
  • for the next 1-2 weeks, use should be reduced;
  • then stop taking the corticosteroid medicine completely.

If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Konazol shampoo can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is not known about the risks of using Konazol shampoo during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving and machine control

Konazol does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

  1. How to use Konazol shampoo

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Konazol shampoo is intended for use by adolescents and adults

Damaged skin should be moistened with Nizoral shampoo and left for 3-5 minutes to absorb (usually one handful of shampoo is enough at one time). After that, the skin and hair should be washed well with water.

The frequency of moisturizing the skin with shampoo depends on the type of fungus and whether the drug is used to treat the disease or to prevent it.

In the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and flaking of the scalp

Skin You should wash with Konazol shampoo 2 times a week for 2-4 weeks, once a week or every two weeks to prevent recurrence of the disease.

In the treatment of multi-colored cedar

Skin Konazol shampoo should be washed once a day for 1-5 days.

What to do if you take too much Konazol shampoo dose

Konazol shampoo should not be swallowed. Accidental ingestion Konazol shampoo, you need to consult a doctor.

  1. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people): inflammation of the hair root, eye irritation, increased lacrimation, hair loss, dry skin, abnormal hair structure, rash, burning sensation of the skin, redness, irritation, itching or other reactions at the application site.

Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): taste sensation, appearance of acne, development of contact dermatitis, skin disorder or peeling, increased sensitivity at the application site, appearance of pustules or other hypersensitivity reactions.

Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): urticaria, changes in hair color, angioneurotic edema (allergic swelling).

If you do not tolerate the shampoo, you should stop using it. Do not hesitate to report any side effects to your doctor or pharmacist.

  1. How to store Konazol shampoo

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Store at a temperature not higher than 25 °C.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and bottle after EXP. The drug is suitable for use until the last day of the indicated month.

Medicines must not be disposed of in the sewer or with household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unnecessary medicines. These measures will help protect the environment.
