Blackcurrant oil is extracted from blackcurrant seeds and produces a valuable edible oil with 14% GLA. Omega-3, alpha-linolenic acid, and omega-6, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), are considered essential fatty acids. Although the body can make GLA from other dietary omega-6 fatty acids, GLA can be used more effectively for body functions when supplied directly from food sources. NOW® Black Currant Oil is pomace-pressed and hexane-free.
