Vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine) functions primarily as an enzyme catalyst in many bodily processes, including energy metabolism and neurotransmitter function. It must be converted by the liver to the coenzyme form (P-5-P) before it can be used for this purpose. P-5-P eliminates this step by providing B-6 in its converted form, resulting in better bioavailability.
